Bundesliga's pledge to liberalise joint selling of football media rights made legally binding by Commission decision

Brussels, 19/01/2005 (Agence Europe) - Following a consultation with interested parties, the European Commission officially announced on Wednesday that it is closing its investigation into the central marketing of media rights by the German football league, Ligaverband, for the Bundesliga. The Commission had been concerned that the exclusive selling of commercial broadcasting rights by the 'Ligaverband' may have violated the EC Treaty's ban on cartels and restrictive business practices...
