08/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - The United States seems to be supporting Pascal Lamy's candidacy to the post of Director General of the WTO (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.14). Mr Lamy would be a very good candidate, said a spokesperson for the Trade Representative, Robert Zoellick, speaking in Paris, but stressed that there were "several excellent candidates" in the running.
