08/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - Silvana Koch-Mehrin MEP (FDP, Germany, ALDE group) again called for the SPD to agree for the German constitution to be revised in order to allow Germany to hold a referendum on the European constitution. She stated in a press release that, "We don't need a rapid ratification of the Constitution but a ratification in which people participate". Together with the SPD, Greens, CSU and FDP, there will be an overwhelming majority for amending the Constitution, according to this MEP, who called for partisan considerations to be cast aside.
