14/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - The EPP-ED group at the European Parliament confirmed via a press statement that it had concluded an agreement with the PES group on the presidency of the European Parliament. This agreement, signed by Hans-Gert Pöttering, Françoise Grossetête and Jozef Szajer on behalf of the EPP and Martin Schulz and Poul Nyrup Rassmussen for the PES, the presidency of the parliament will mean that the presidency of the parliament will go to a PES candidate during he first half of the legislature and an EPP candidate during the second. The Socialist candidate at the presidency of the EP, Josep Borrell from Spain, will be presenting his groups' programme on Thursday to the EPP-ED group.
