VNU from the Netherlands intends to sell off its business interests in the VNU WORLD DIRECTORIES telephone directory group (turnover for 2003 EUR 492 million with workforce of 2,200) in order to pay off its debt which had reached almost EUR 3 bn by the end of last year. This divisions has been valued at around EUR 2 bn and represents around 13% of VNU's overall turnover.
