17/05/2004 (Agence Europe) - The spokesperson of the European Commissioner for Trade, Pascal Lamy, confirmed on Monday that no European ultimatum had been launched in Beijing in the dispute on Chinese coke exports (see EUROPE of 15 May, p.13 and of 12 May, p.14). Arancha Gonzales said that last week, discussions between Europeans and Chinese on this dossier had moved forward, and that the Commission had decided to "favour the negotiation route".
