Brussels, 24/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament is bracing itself for a clash with the Council over the investment services directive, which will bring the banks and stock exchanges into conflict. With the adoption on Tuesday of the report by British Conservative Theresa Villiers (26 for, 8 against and 4 abstentions), the EP Committee on Economic Affairs reintroduced amendments that had been rejected at first reading by the Council.
