05/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - Regional Policy Commissioner Michel Barnier took part, on Wednesday, at an extraordinary meeting of the EPP Group at the Committee of the Regions chaired by its president, Isidoro Gottardo. A press release from the Committee states that participants included the Committee's former president, Jos Chabert, the Slovakian ministers for construction and regional development, Laszló Gyurovszky, the European Parliament rapporteur on the third cohesion report, Kostantinos Hatzidakis, and the mayors of Athens and Frankfurt, Dora Bakogianni and Petra Roth. According to the press release, Mr Barnier sketched out the broad lines of the third cohesion report that the Commission is to adopt on 18 February, and Isidoro Gottardo expressed concern about the financial perspectives for the period 2007-2013, on which the Commission will make proposals on 10 February, fearing that cohesion policy may suffer.
