Brussels, 16/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - A conference on the ill-treatment of children will be held in Paris on 20 November, it was announced by French Deputy Minister for the Family Christian Jacob, on his way through Brussels. Held in the context of the Italian EU Presidency, the meeting will bring together all the ministers responsible for family issues from Member States and candidate countries, as well as European Justice Commissioner Antonio Vitorino. It will be co-chaired by France and Italy. Mr Jacob assured that the meeting will provide an opportunity to compare the systems for observing ill-treatment and the various warning systems as well as to take stock of the Community programme, Daphne whose renewal is being discussed at the European Parliament (see EUROPE of 24 May, p.17).
