ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) steel

US steel group US STEEL (turnover USD 7 bn in 2002) has announced that its proposal to take over almost all the assets of NATIONAL STEEL (turnover USD 2.5 bn with a workforce of 8200 and an annual steel production capacity of 6.9 million de tons), for USD 1.05 bn (850 million in cash and 200 million in debt acquisition), had been selected by the failing company's board of directors.
