Brussels, 22/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission is to conditionally approve the creation of a joint venture between the DaimlerChrysler and Deutsche Telekom groups, Reuters states. The operation concerns the creation of a company responsible for setting in place a system for the collection of tolls for certain heavy goods vehicles using German motorways. The Commission feared that DaimlerChrysler market shares would increase too much in the telematics sector, which is in full expansion, and had therefore decided to open a detailed inquiry into the matter last December. The Commission is thus expected to call on its partners to give their competitors access to the platform. These competitors may thus propose other telematic services through the same channels.
