GENERAL NEWS / (eu) eu/lebanon

10/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - The trade provisions of the EU-Lebanon association agreement will take effect on 1 March this year, it is announced in Community circles. The Lebanese parliament gave its go-ahead in December last and the agreement was officially notified to the Commission by the Lebanese authorities on 7 January. Ratification procedures for the agreement itself have still to be finalised. The Lebanese parliament did the necessary in December and the European Parliament has still to do so, on 15 January in Strasbourg. Then, ratification by Member states will be needed.
