Commission initiates two independent investigations, one in rubber sector, the other in that of bitumen

Brussels, 10/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has initiated two distinct investigations into two cartels, one in the sector of chemical products produced from rubber to improve the quality of tyres, the other in the bitumen sector used in road asphalt.

The investigation into rubber chemicals began on 26 September with surprise inspections by officials attached to the competition DG and representatives of national competition authorities concerning a possible price agreement...
