04/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Commission is granting EUR 11 million to the UN High commission for Refugees to finance humanitarian operations (protection programmes and registration of refugees, and the safety of humanitarian personnel in host countries, especially in Africa). "This use of Echo funds is innovative. It is the result of our undertaking to further co-operate with the UN in humanitarian fields" commented Poul Nielson.
