Paris, 22/08/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Cicero Foundation directed by Marcel Van Herpen will be organising a seminar on "EU Enlargement - Preparing ourselves for Accession" on 10-11 October in Paris. Participants will include, Polish Ambassador to the EU, Marek Grela and Croatia's Ambassador to France, Bozidar Gagro, as well as Bob Bonwitt, director from SIGMA (joint European Commission and OECD initiative for the promotion of public administration reform in Central and Eastern Europe, Wouter Van de Rijt from the Secretariat General at the EU Council, Philippe Moutot from the European Central Bank and Armin Detlev-Riess from the European Investment Bank. The main themes will include administrative reform in candidate countries, border controls and immigration policy, CAP reform, the relationship between NATO enlargement and enlargement of the EU and the implications for CFSP. Many other issues will also be discussed: why certain candidate countries have had a lot of success in reforming their economies? What institutional reforms are necessary for an enlarged EU to function properly? An Enlarged Cyprus, divided or unite? Will the Copenhagen Summit will give the green light to negotiations with Turkey? How are candidate countries preparing for joining the Euro-zone?
