Food aid to the tune of EUR 35 million

Brussels, 06/08/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has allocated a further €35 million from the food security budget line for victims of food shortages in Zimbabwe. Most of this assistance (worth around €32 million) will fund the purchase of around 90,000 tonnes of maize in the framework of the Regional Emergency Operation recently launched by the World Food Programme (WFP). The Commission and WFP affirm that this assistance "will be equitable and non-politicised"....
