Islamabad, 29/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - CFSP High Representative Javier Solana spoke, on 26 July in New Delhi and 27 July in Islamabad, on the conflict in Kashmir. After his meetings with President Musharraf, he stressed, according to AFP, that "he (Musharraf) has taken very great measures in the last months and we would like him … to continue to take measures of that nature in the future. I am sure he is going to take (more steps)", said Mr Solana. Inam-ul-Haq, Pakistan's Junior Minister for Foreign Affairs, said it was "imperative" that India should adopt reciprocal measures "so that serious dialogue is initiated".
In New Delhi, after meeting Deputy Prime Minister Advani, the High Representative for CFSP said he was certain India's response to Pakistan's measures would be "positive", especially with regard to cross-border infiltration.
