Commission believes EU must increase productivity to reach Lisbon Objective and reduce skill shortages

Brussels, 23/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - "Recent trends in productivity growth in the EU are not sufficient for reaching the economic, social and environmental objectives set out in the Lisbon Strategy. Member States and the Commission must take the political initiative to ensure that the necessary structural reforms to correct this situation are quickly carried out.
