German bank NORDLB is planning to buy a 76.01% stake in the Lithuanian state bank ZEMES UKIO BANKAS (Agriculture Bank, $443.8 million in assets at the end of September 2001), the third largest Lithuanian bank which is in the process of being privatised (sale will be completed at the end of March). Lithuanian media suggest the deal is worth some $17.5 million and NORDLB has pledged to invest double this amount in the bank.
