Brussels, 07/01/2002 (Agence Europe) - A new Letter to the members of the Convention involved in the debate on the future of the European Treaties came out at the beginning of 2002 in order to contribute to the debate between the Convention chaired by Valéry Giscard d'Estaing and the structured network of organisations representing civil society. The new Letter will also aim to "consolidate the cohesion between the federalist approach and the common values on democracy, solidarity and respect of cultural diversities shared by a large number of echoing his work with Altiero Spinelli by calling his online letter "Crocodile" (crocodile_letter@hotmail.com) after the Crocodile Club that started up at the European Parliament in 1980 and led to the setting up of an institutional committee and eventually to the adoption of the Spinelli Report on the Treaty of the European Union on 17 February 1984. Dastoli regularly published the Crocodile Letter for a number of years and hopes that the new Letter will have a column for readers' contributions.
