ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) chemicals

SOLVAY (Belgium; turnover EUR 8.9 billion in 2000 with 32,000 employed in 50 countries) and MANN+HUMMEL (Germany; turnover EUR 950 million in 2000 with 8,000 employed) have signed a protocol agreement aimed at the sale of SOLVAY's automotive Air Induction Systems and Technical Parts activities. The division concerned employs 1100 and has eight sites. It is expected to make a turnover of around EUR 150 million in 2001. The amount of the transaction has not been disclosed.
