The US company CITIGROUP INC has acquired a 50% stake in NIKKO TRUST & BANKING CORPORATION (Nippon brokerage firm NIKKO SECURITIES) for the sum of $83.4 million. The operation, to be finalised on 31 August, will entail the merger of NIKKO TRUST and CITI TRUST (its counterpart within the CITIGROUP INC) into a joint fiduciary and investment services firm called NIKKOCITI TRUST & BANKING CORPORATION, which will work on the Japanese market and whose total managed assets will be 7,000 billion...
