29/08/2001 (Agence Europe) - The bureau of the EPP-ED Group in the European Parliament is meeting on Thursday and Friday at Saint Jacques de Compostelle (Spain) to debate the guidelines of the reform of the common agricultural policy (CAP) and the common fisheries policy (CFP) Taking part in the meeting, will be the President of the Junte de Galicia, Manuel Fraga, Spanish Agricultural Minister Miguel Arias Canete, and the Secretary General of the Spanish People's Party, Javier Arenas. During Thursday's debate on the reform of the CAP, the Vice-Presidents of the EPP-ED, Britain's James Elles and France's Francoise Grossetete and other MEPs will discuss the financial aspects, the consequences of enlargement on agriculture, the quality of food and rural development measures. The creation of a genuine single fisheries market will be braoched on Friday, with speeches by the Secretary General of the Spanish fisheries ministry, Samuel Juarez, and the Chair of the Parliamentary Fisheries Committee, Daniel Varela.
