In 2000, EU represented 1% of world population growth - Fertility rate up

Brussels, 14/08/2001 (Agence Europe) - According to a report published by Eurostat, on 1 January 2001, the EU only accounted for 1% of world population growth, amounting to over 75 million people compared to 1 January 2000. With a population growth of 15.6%, India contributed 21%, ahead of China (9% growth, representing 15% of world growth). The United States recorded a growth of 9%.
