A draft reform of the linguistic process leads to reactions of indignation in Bonn and Paris, who see in it a drift towards unilingualism

Brussels, 13/08/2001 (Agence Europe) - France and Germany, backed notably by certain officials in the European Commission (see EUROPE of 3 august, p.10), reacted strongly to a chapter of the draft communication on the simplification of the linguistic process drawn up by a working party wanting to lighten the burden of translation. Talks on this draft text (discussed in June and July within the College of Commissioners) by the Commission has been postponed to September.
