09/08/2001 (Agence Europe) - Asked what the European Commission could do regarding the withdrawal by Bayer of Cerivastatine, a medicine said to be linked to accidental deaths, a spokesperson replied that the Commission was going to follow the affair, but that it was not up to it (nor the European Medicinal Agency) to act, those medicine having been the subject of national authorisations for being placed on the market, and not a European authorisation.
