Brussels, 17/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed with the Bank Nederlandse Gemeenten (BNG) the first tranche of an EUR 100 million global loan for the financing, in the Netherlands, of public infrastructure projects including health and education projects. The BNG (in The Hague) is specialised in the financing of infrastructure projects implemented by local authorities and investments by housing corporations, utilities, health and social care institutions, universities and schools.
During the past five years (1996-2000), the EIB has signed loan agreements in the Netherlands worth more than EUR 2 billion, of which over EUR 700 million is in the form of global loans for intermediary banks, including BNG.
