10/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - According to Eurostat, the volume of retail trade rose 1.5% in the Euro zone and 2.4% in the European Union (EU15) in April 2001, compared to April 2000. The foodstuff sector (including drinks and tobacco) rose 1.7% in the Euro zone and by 1.9% in the EU15. The textile sector (including clothing and shoes) rose 1.2% in the Euro zone and recorded a significant increase of 3.4% in the EU15. That for household equipment rose respectively 0.1% and 1.8% in both zones.
