27/04/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Union and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe regrets the fact that the Belarus authorities should have refused a visa to an advisor of Freimut Duve, the OSCE's Representative on Freedom of the Media, who was to have met government, independent media and NGO representatives in the country. Qualifying this measure as "interference" in the independence of the OSCE, Mr. Duve has cancelled his trip to Belarus.
