ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) agri-chemicals

German chemicals company BAYER is planning to acquire CROPSCIENCE, the agrochemicals subsidiary of AVENTIS (turnover EUR 4.6 billion in 2000). BASF, DUPONT, MONSANTO and DOW are also interested. The stakes are important: the company that wins the sale will become the second largest agrochemicals company worldwide.
