- France: A study by THOMSON FINANCIAL reveals that some of the merger and acquisition operations failed in France early 2001. According to the agency in question, 241 operations of this kind were achieved over the first quarter 2001 in France for a total of $7.31 billion, that is, eleven times less than the $79.35 billion of the first quarter of 2000, which concerned 317 transactions.
