ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) cables

NEXANS, which is the cables business branch of France's ALCATEL, has taken a 51% stake in the Korean cables manufacturer DAESUNG. This firm, specialised in the production of energy cables, telecommunications cables and special cables for the automobile industry, employs some 550 people for a turnover of $100 million in 1999. The cost of the transaction has not been disclosed.
