Luxembourg, 08/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - Industrial producer prices rose 0.1% In January 2001 compared to last December in the euro-zone, states Eurostat. Prices in the Union (EU15), which had fallen by 0.3% in December, remained stable in January. Price indices for durable consumer goods rose 0.5% in January in the euro-zone and also in the EU15, while the index for non-durable consumer goods increased by 0.5% and 0.4% respectively. Capital goods gained 90.2% in both areas. These increases were partly offset by the fall in the index for intermediate goods, which plummeted 0.6% in the euro-zone and 0.9% in the EU15. Prices fell in five countries, mainly in Portugal (-3.8%). They remained stable in Italy and Sweden and increased in the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland and Luxembourg. Finally, compared to January 2000, the price rise was 4.8% in January 2001 and 4.1% in the EU15.
