The Anglo-Dutch group ROYAL DUTCH SHELL has made a $2.2 bn bid (400 of which is debt assumption) for the American natural gas exploration and production company BARRETT RESOURCES ($376 million turnover in 2000 with 200 staff). The bid amounts to $55 a share.
