08/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - British Foreign Office Minister for Europe Keith Vaz welcomed the launch, in Brussels on 7 March, of the public debate on the future of Europe (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.4). "From my travels around the country, I know that people want to know more about how the EU works, about how and why it is involved in certain areas and, above all, about what it can do for them (…) I look forward to us having a serious debate in Britain", said Vaz.
