27/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Monday, the EU Council invited the Member States and the Commission to pursue their assistance to El Salvador in the aftermath of the series of earthquakes which had struck this country over the last six weeks. It welcomed the forthcoming meeting of the Consultative Group on El Salvador, on 7 March, in Madrid. Spanish Minister Josep Piqué drew attention to the gravity of the situation.
