Slovakia: the Slovak Government is on the verge of selling its 36% stake in GLOBTEL (7.487 bn Slovak crowns turnover in 2000), the country's largest mobile phone operator with a market share of 56%, to a group of financial investors headed by the insurance group AIG - AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL GROUP. The remaining share is held by FRANCE TELECOM.
