05/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Mail of Sunday of 4 February states that Margaret Thatcher had intended launching an appeal for the United Kingdom to pull out of the EU, at last March's Conservative Conference, but that the Tory leader, William Hague, had opposed the move, considering that this would have caused an irreparable split in the Party.
