Brussels, 05/01/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Italian Radical Marco Cappato, responsible in the European Parliament for the report on the Directive concerning the handling of personal data and the protection of the private life in the sector of electronic communications, is organising on 10 January, at the EP in Brussels, a conference on all the aspects linked to this issue. Other than the MEPs Elena Paciotti (Democratici di Sinistra), Ana Palacio (PPE, Spain), Astrid Thors (Finnish Liberal) and Alima Boumediene-Thiery (French Green), are several representatives from national authorities for data protection, and notably the Italian Stefano Rodotà and the Dutchman Peter Hustinx, who must participate in this conference. The Commissioner Erkki Liikanen will also take part.
