ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) chemicals

German BAYER and American LYONDELL are to invest, together, EUR 500 million in a joint subsidiary held equally which will construct and operate an intermediary products factory for polyurethane in the Netherlands. The plant will produce 640,000 tonnes of styrene and 285,000 tonnes of propylene oxide from 2003 on.
