- United Kingdom: In 1999, this country has become the top destination for French investors in Europe with 56 acquisitions for a total of GBP 8.3 billion, according to a study by the French consultancy FRENGER INTERNATIONAL. These investments have more than doubled in 1999 compared to 1997 (or GBP 3.8 billion) while they totalled GBP 5.4 billion in 1998. The "small operations" (inferior to GBP 5 million), made, for their part, a jump from 6 to 22% in total between 1997 and 1999.
