ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) equipment

The Swedish-Swiss groups ABB-ASEA BROWN BOVERI (turnover $25 billion in 1999 with 160,000 persons employed) and American SCHLUMBERGER (oil exploitation: turnover $8.4 billion in 1999) have signed a letter of intent with a view to creating a joint venture active in the extraction of submarine oil and gas.
