ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) telecommunications

The British mobile phone operator ORANGE TELECOM has signed a joint-venture agreement to develop a mobile phone network in Thailand with Thailand's foremost telecommunications group CP - CHAROEN POKPHAND. The company will be called BITCO - BANGKOK INTER TELETECH and be worth $100 million. ORANGE will have a 34% stake, and gradually increase this to 49%. Its Thai partner will take control with 51% of the capital.
