ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) electricity

Spanish company ENDESA (consolidated profits of 212.6 billion pesetas in 1999) has begun talks with its counterpart IBERDROLA (consolidated profits 121.5 billion pesetas in 1999) with a view to studying an eventual friendly merger between the two companies that together control 80% of electricity production and distribution in Spain.
