According to the Scotland on Sunday and Financial Times dailies, the American financial services GEC - GENERAL ELECTRIC CAPITAL made a GBP 2 billion offer to take-over the British life insurer SCOTTISH LIFE (assets under management of GBP 10 billion). GEC is also a candidate for the take-over STANDARD LIFE, the second largest life insurer in Britain.
