Brussels, 14/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Commission authorised the take over of the Italian tour operator Alpitour by Ifil (Finanziaria di Partecipazioni), a holding belonging to the Italian group G. Agnelli & C. Sapaz. This holding owns financial stakes in companies active in various economic sectors such as the car industry, banking, internet services, distribution and tourism. It acquired the control of Alpitour S.p.A, present in the tourism sector where it is mainly present as a tour operator, through the acquisition of a minority stake (13%) in Park Lane. Taking into account that the Ifil stake on the package holiday market is limited to that held by Alpitour (or 16%), and that Ifil does not have control over other companies in the tourism sector, the Commission has formulated no objections to this operation.
