According to the Financial Times, ALLIANZ (net profit of EUR 1.6 billion in the first quarter 2000), the largest German insurer, would be in negotiations for the acquisition of NICHOLAS APPLEGATE, an American fund manager. According to the specialists, the value of the operation approaches USD 1.5 billion. NICHOLAS APPLEGATE holds more than USD 45 billion in managed funds.
