09/08/2000 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday Deutsche Post denied breaching Community competition regulations and asserted that it floatation on the stock exchange next November would not be affected. The Deutsche Post spokesperson, Norbert Schaefer, denied the European Commission's objections against the German post office (see yesterday's EUROPE, pages 1 and 2). Deutsche Post also brought into question its American competitor United Parcels Service (UPS), which at the root of the procedure before the Commission, by asserting that it was not looking to make prices rise on the German market so as to create greater profits. As for the President of UPS Europe, John Warrick he recalled the reasons that motivated the complaint made by his company against DPAG and welcomed the European Commission decision, which shows that "DPAG has a case to answer on predatory pricing and unfair practices on the parcel delivery market".
