The German media group BERTELSMANN has announced the purchase of the on-line record company CDNOW ($43.6 million turnover in the first quarter of 2000) for $117 million. The cash offer proposes three dollars a share. BERTELSMANN will also pay $42 million for the company's debts and to finance ongoing operations.
