The German operator DEUTSCHE TELEKOM has made a $50.7 bn bid for the American mobile phone operator VOICESTREAM. The operation will take the form of cash and an exchange of shares to the tune of 3.2 DEUTSCHE TELEKOM shares and $30 for VOICESTREAM share. Finland's SONERA and Hong Kong's HUTCHINSON WHAMPOA, who each have a 7.9% and 22% stake respectively, have announced that they would provide their stakes to the bid.
